DR. DUPE NIHINLOLA OLAYINKA-DOSUNMU fnis fgeoson mnes
the Quintessential First Female Rector of Federal School of Surveying, Oyo

Dr. Olayinka-Dosunmu was born in Oyo town on 3rd August, 1971.
Nihinlola graduated with Distinction in Higher National Diploma (Land Surveying) from Federal School of Surveying. Oyo in 1995. Nihinlola graduated with First Class (Honours) in Surveying from the University of Lagos in 1998; making her the first female graduate of Surveying with First Class from any University in Nigeria. She also graduated with Distinction in her Master of Science (Surveying and Geoinformatics) with a CGPA of 5.0, a record which is yet to be broken in the history of the Department. Olayinka-Dosunmu obtained a Doctorate degree from Lancaster University, UK with specialization in Environmental Modelling under the Schlumberger Foundation (Faculty for the Future) for Women in Science, Technology and Engineering. She was the first recipient of the award in Africa, having competed with other thirteen participants from seven universities in Nigeria and sixty participants across the globe.
Leadership Roles
Nihinlola was the Vice President, Students' Union Government in 1994, Federal School of Surveying, Oyo. The President, Nigerian institution of Surveying Students (now NISGS), University of Lagos, in 1996. She is the Immediate Past Secretary, Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Lagos Branch and Internal Auditor, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Lagos State Branch.
Awards/Commendation/Recognition
Olayinka-Dosunmu is a recipient of over 125 awards. The closest to her heart is graduating as the overall University Scholar/Valedictorian in the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics, Faculty of Engineering and University of Lagos with a First Class in Surveying in 1998. Prior to this, she received Best Surveying Student in Pre-final Year, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos-Surveyor Craig Award Presented by Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, 1997. Other awards are: Best House Captain, Odetayo House, Olivet Baptist High School, 1989: Vice Chancellor's Prize for the best all round Performance at the degree level, 1998- National School Fund Prize for the best all round Performance in Faculty at the degree level, 1998-Provost's/Dean's Prize for the best performance in any one subject within a teaching unit,1998; Olumide Award for the best student in Geodesy, 1998; Schlumberger Foundation (Faculty for the Future) Role Model for the Next Generation Awardee for 2005-2009 for PhD at Lancaster University, UK; International Conference of Nigerian Students in Diaspora (1CONS) Award for Performance, Outstanding Achievement and Academic Success, Lancaster University, UK, 2007 by XN Foundation, University of Lagos Alumni Award for Academic Erudition 2019, Olivet Baptist High School Old Students Award for Academic Excellence, 2019.
Dr. Dupe Nihinlola Olayinka-Dosunmu is a distinguished academic and professional, currently recognized as Yeye Atunluto of Iresa-Pupa, a chieftaincy title that reflects her leadership and organizational contributions to her community. With affiliations to the University of Lagos and Federal School of Surveying, Oyo, Dr. Olayinka-Dosunmu has established herself as a respected figure in her field. Her commitment to service, education, and community development has earned her this esteemed title and the admiration of her peers.
Academic Career
Olayinka-Dosunmu started her journey in research and teaching as a Teaching/Research Assistant in the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics in 2001 and rose through the ranks to the post of an Associate Professor. She is the first female lecturer in the Department since inception in 1973. She served as Faculty of Engineering Examination Officer, Acting Sub-Dean, and an Adjunct Reader in the University of llorin. She was an external examiner at FUTA and SURCON Examiner for ten years from 2013 to 2022.
Dr. Olayinka-Dosunmu has mentored many graduates from University of Lagos, Oyo and environs and Nigeria. She has over 75 publications as conference, journal, and resource papers to her credit and had attended several conferences both in Nigeria and abroad.
Membership of Professional Bodies
She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors; Fellow, Geoinformation Society of Nigeria, Member, Nigerian Environmental Society, Member, African Association of Remote Sensing of the Environment (AARSE); Member, ElS-Africa, an Associate Member of Institute of Civil Engineers (British Hydrological Society), UK, member, Building Collapse Prevention Guild. Dr. Olayinka-Dosunmu is a Registered Surveyor (SURCON, 2003). Dr. Olayinka-Dosunmu is currently the President of Geoinformation Society of Nigeria (GEOSON)
Family
She is married with two beautiful daughters, Titilayo (a Barrister) and Temitayo (an actress and exclusive writer).
Appointment as the First Female Rector
Nihinlola was appointed the first female and indigenous Rector of Federal School of Surveying, Oyo on 3rd December, 2018 and her second term was renewed from 2nd December, 2022.
